JOB SUMMARY: The Service Writer/Advisor is responsible for scheduling service work in the service department as well as seeking out the applicable information from trucks and customers to properly process scheduling and paperwork for repairs.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assisting Service Manager in achieving sales and operational objectives
  • Assisting Service Manager with operational requirements by scheduling and assigning technicians to jobs
  • Managing all customer service requirements by assisting incoming customers and phone calls
  • Helping to drive sales through customer service excellence
  • Working closely with Service Manager to schedule jobs, start and completion times
  • Appropriately notifying Service Manager and Service Foreman of incoming work
  • Obtaining the necessary customer vehicle data to write a complete repair order
  • Writing repair orders - indicating on repair order the exact repair instructions, writing each operation using "Complaint, Cause, Correction" method
  • Updating and maintaining the Preventative Maintenance records (PM Schedule)
  • Updating and maintaining the Special Order Part files (SOPs)
  • Coordinating the scheduling of jobs with SOPs with the Parts Department
  • Scheduling appointments using dealership approved forms
  • Communicating with service customers to determine the nature of the mechanical problems
  • Updating customers, determining the timeline of repair, notifying customer immediately if timeline will not be achieved or scope of work has changed
  • Other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS: Service Advisor must have knowledge of equipment maintenance, lifting, problem solving, reporting research results, quality focus, productivity, estimating, product knowledge, customer service and safety management. They must also possess strong customer service skills, computer skills, organizational skills and have the ability to multi-task.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • 1-3 years related experience in heavy-duty vehicle service management and/or training
  • The equivalent combination of education and experience

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • This position will require, at different times and frequencies, sitting, standing, walking, lifting and bending

Requirements

  • 1-3 years in the heavy duty truck industry
  • At least 1 year Service Advisor experience
  • Driver's license
